Cerro Frías 4x4 is a half-day tour in the El Calafate area where you visit this hill in 4x4 vehicles while you marvel at spectacular views of the Andes Mountains, Lago Argentino, Mount Fitz Roy and the Torres del Paine.

Cerro Frías is located near El Calafate, on the way to the Perito Moreno Glacier and, since it is not part of the Andes Mountains, it lets you take in panoramic views of the Torres del Paine, Cerro Fitz Roy, Cordón de los Cristales, Brazo Rico, Brazo Norte and the main body of Lago Argentino, the Boca del Diablo and the Magallanes and Avellaneda peninsulas.

The tour begins when you are picked up at your hotel in El Calafate and the 25 km drive to Cerro Frías starts. There, a 4x4 ride up the hillside begins, spotting lenga forests along the way and a wide variety of native flora and wildlife. Within a few minutes you get sweeping views of the Río Centinela Valley and the Torres del Paine.

The ride continues climbing up to the highest field of the hill, where there are cows, guanacos, hares and wild foals. In winter, depending on the ground conditions from accumulated snow, the vehicle may not reach the summit but rather an intermediate point, still with incredible views.

Back at the base of the hill you will have free time at the lodge, where the included lunch (morning) or snack (afternoon) is served. Once the tour is over, the return to the town of El Calafate and your hotel begins.
