Perito Moreno Kayak is a one-of-a-kind experience in the world: you paddle in double kayaks among the icebergs that float in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier, in the Iceberg Channel of Lake Argentino. The icebergs can be seen so close that you can touch them with your hands.
The activity takes place 78 km from El Calafate, at a base dome located in front of the beach. Groups are small (up to 16 people per departure) and the kayaks are double, more stable and safe, ideal for enjoying the experience without needing previous experience.
When you arrive at the dome, you are provided with all the technical gear: Gore-Tex dry suit, thermal suit, boots, gloves and life jacket. The specialized guides give a complete briefing on paddling technique and safety before heading out on the water.
After warm-up exercises, the kayak trip of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes begins, always accompanied by the guides, letting you watch majestic icebergs floating all around. An experience that lets you witness how small we are before nature.
Back at the beach, you enjoy a snack with hot and cold drinks at the dome. You can choose the full day (with transfer from El Calafate and a visit to the walkways) or the activity only. In both, the National Park entrance is paid separately.
In the "activity only" option you show up at the dome at 10:00 AM and it ends at 1:30 PM. The order and times may vary for operational reasons.
Two ways to experience the water in Patagonia: paddle among icebergs in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier, or navigate the Santa Cruz River along Darwin's historic route. Compare and choose yours.

If you want the experience in front of the glacier → choose the Perito Moreno Kayak. You paddle 1h30 among blue icebergs, a few meters from the wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier. You do not need previous experience (you go with a guide) and you can do it from age 12. A perspective of the glacier that very few get to live.
If you are after a full-day adventure with history → choose Darwin Experience. A 15 km kayak on the Santa Cruz River following the route Charles Darwin traveled in 1834, with lunch at a ranch and transfer included from your hotel. Ideal if you have some fitness (from age 16).
