📖 The excursion
Viedma Glacier Cruise:
the largest glacier in Argentina

The Viedma Cruise takes you sailing across Lake Viedma to the face of the Viedma Glacier, the largest in Argentina, in a little-explored area of Los Glaciares National Park, near El Chaltén. Along the way you will see the Huemul massif, take a short walk to a viewpoint over Bahía de los Témpanos and approach the glacier's imposing ice face by boat.

The boat departs from Puerto Bahía Túnel (18 km from El Chaltén). The first stretch sails about 40 minutes toward Bahía Cabo de Hornos, with views of the Huemul massif, where you land for an easy ~25-minute trek to a scenic point. You then board again toward the face of the Viedma Glacier to marvel at the ice wall before returning to port.

You can choose two options: the cruise only (you get to the port on your own, ideal if you are already in El Chaltén) or with transfer from El Calafate (we pick you up at your hotel from 7:00, round trip, and add a visit to Chorrillo del Salto before returning).

⭐ Captain's Club (optional)

Premium VIP cabin with Open Bar and a multi-course lunch. Preferential location on board, dedicated host and guide. You can add it when booking by checking the "Captain's Club" box.

Which one suits you?

If you are in El Chaltén or want the Viedma Glacier → choose the Viedma Cruise. You sail in front of the largest glacier in Argentina, with a landing and short trek at Bahía de los Témpanos. Shorter (4 hours), with a snack included and departures from El Calafate or El Chaltén.

If you want the premium experience with all 3 glaciers → choose Glaciares Gourmet. You sail aboard the María Turquesa cruise in front of Upsala, Spegazzini and also Perito Moreno, with a landing and walk at Puesto Las Vacas. The most complete and most comfortable option.

If you want Upsala and Spegazzini with more time on land → choose Todo Glaciares. The most complete cruise on Lake Argentino, with 2 hours ashore at Base Spegazzini and a trail to the viewpoints in front of the ice wall.

If you are short on time or looking for the most affordable option → choose the Safari Náutico. A 1-hour cruise in front of the south face of Perito Moreno, aboard a boat with panoramic windows.
